External Job Summary

As Maintenance & Reliability Manager, you will be responsible for all maintenance operations, including equipment safety, maximizing machine productivity and uptime, as well as the condition and upkeep of the facility.


The Maintenance & Reliability Manager will maintain and improve performance of the company s physical assets and control maintenance labor and material costs to achieve plant performance goals. This position will require considerable interaction with plant floor personnel, leadership teams, engineering, external support, and contractors.

Your Mission:

  • Develop and manage all maintenance activities, with safety being the highest priority.
  • Lead preventive & predictive maintenance/process reliability, manage improvement of key performance indicators, continuous improvement of maintenance functions, and department budget cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the development and training of technicians including coaching, mentoring and development.
  • Participate and/or lead initiatives for capital projects and problem-solving activities.
  • Assure purchasing and storeroom functions follow established policies and procedures.
  • Play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and improving processes associated with the computerized maintenance management system for process reliability.
  • Lead team meetings & trainings, identify safety, environmental, quality & production issues, coordinate activities with the production team to maximize productivity, minimize cost and reduce waste.
  • Take measures to proactively address all concerns.


What You ll Do:

  • Manage the integrity and maintenance of all plant assets, including production equipment, facilities, utility equipment, and grounds.
  • Establish departmental goals that maintain focus on improving line efficiencies, product quality, and equipment reliability.
  • Strong focus on ergonomics and employee safety during both the planning and execution of capital projects.
  • Emphasis on the development and enforcement of plant safety policies related to LOTO, confined space, electrical, and other industrial safety hazards.
  • Implement predictive maintenance strategies to increase reliability and increase planned maintenance activity.
  • Support the efficient operation of the plant through effective utilization of engineering and facility maintenance resources.
  • Develop ideas and projects to reduce utility and energy costs.
  • Determine equipment capabilities for new or revised factory layouts.
  • Participate on the Food Safety and HACCP Team.
  • Develop and foster a communication network that promotes interaction between maintenance, operations, sanitation, team leaders, and managers.
  • Create a proactive work environment that involves mechanics in the planning, coordinating, and execution of work.
  • Develop expertise in the maintenance organization on all mechanical, electrical, and controls platforms.
  • Utilize the companies EAM system to maximize wrench time and improve equipment reliability.
  • Determine skills gaps in the maintenance team and develop education/training plans to close those gaps.

What You ll Bring:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher) Minimum of 7 years at a high-speed automation process or manufacturing operation with increasing responsibility in a leadership role such as maintenance supervision, maintenance management, maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, or plant/facilities management /engineering.
  • A passion for safety and exceptional leadership capability in improving safety performance.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, mechanical and PLC programming.
  • Proven expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods and a demonstrated understanding of equipment reliability, lubrication best practices, and precision maintenance techniques.
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Must have track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, environmental, quality, productivity and people development.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, other windows-based programs and internet skills.
  • Experience with food industry standards such as HACCP, GMP, SQF, BRC
  • Knowledge of GMP, OSHA, EPA and other local codes & regulations.
  • Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration, HVAC, boiler, compressed air, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Must be familiar with Infor EAM or similar computerized maintenance management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree from ABET- Accredited Program
  • 10+ years of Manufacturing Experience as a Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Plant Engineer or Maintenance Engineer
  • CMRP, CMRT, CMM, or Equivalent Certification
  • CIRO or CARO Certification
  • Certification under ICML
  • Experience with SMRP, ISO 55000, TPM, or Similar Organizations & Standards
