Functional Business Analyst-Finance and Accounting

AVER is seeking an experienced Functional Business Analyst with Finance and Accounting experience to apply functional knowledge of Federal financials and accounting in support of a large Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Financial Systems Modernization. As a Functional Business Analyst you will support the implementation of a new COTS-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by defining requirements and validating logic for separating data from hundreds of source tables. Collaborate with client stakeholders to define business logic and work with technical team members to support testing and implementation of the technical solution. Responsibilities Include:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and support data cleansing, data profiling, and data conversion
  • Employ functional knowledge of Federal ERP financials and accounting systems to define requirements and create functional specification
  • Perform analysis to understand impact of data separations
  • Validate and document business logic received from client stakeholders for compliance and audibility
  • Ability to conduct complex and interactive financial and accounting solutioning workshops
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of various solution architecture alternatives
  • Building industry-specific key performance indicators, reports, and dashboards
  • Perform gap analysis between system functionality and client requirements
  • Coordinate with data owners to validate data and reconciling transaction details to summary records such as commitments and obligations to General Ledger (GL) balances)
  • Analyze complex business processes and interpret customer requirements into deliverable solutions


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.


Experience Requirements:


  • 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting, business analysis or functional analysis required
  • 3+ years of experience in collaborating with stakeholders to define financial and accounting configurations and business logic
  • 3+ years of experience with functional design, business processes and configuration knowledge of Federl ERP financials and accounting system
  • Experience working with Finance Master Data (GL accounts, AP, AR, Customer, and Vendors)
  • Experience working with government systems (i.e., SharePoint, ServiceNow) and stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt and operate effectively in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Experience working with SharePoint, MS Teams, ServiceNow to support DHS stakeholders
  • Prior experience supporting Federal government customers.


Desired Requirements:


  • Experienced in supporting Federal SAP S/4 Hana business application development and data migration using a requirements-driven lifecycle process
  • Knowledge of process areas being transformed to support an ERP deployment
  • Experience working within DHS
  • Self-starter and is quick to learn and put new skills to use.
  • Strong analytical skills, and strong written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team to solve problems.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Active DHS clearance (EOD)
