EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN (York, PA)


Job Details

The Equipment Technician will help assemble, test, install and maintain company equipment; read and understand equipment operations and maintenance manuals. They perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, repairs, and replacements. They provide employee assistance and on- the-job training when requested and propose improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance. They maintain the equipment they work with and document any maintenance and repair procedures for future reference. They are responsible to utilize materials and resources efficiently and maintain inventory control of equipment, tools, and parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic signals.
  • Install, maintain, and remove Smart Work Zone equipment.
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies as needed including weekends.
  • Work independently or in a team setting.
  • Program VMS Message Boards.
  • Keeps track of RoadSafe tools and equipment.
  • Keeps assigned work area clean and organized.
  • Helps train and supervise shop support/helpers.
  • Completes all equipment check sheets as required.
  • Works with vendors on cost improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains inventory levels of parts and shop supplies.
  • Monitor and track the repair status of inoperative equipment.
  • Works in compliance with established safety policies & procedures.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain records of work orders and parts issued.
  • Stays current in all models of equipment used or operated by RoadSafe.
  • Informs management of any parts that are damaged, in need of replacement, or are unsafe.
  • Inspects and ensures that all equipment is properly repaired or serviced on an ongoing basis.
  • Performs mechanical repairs, service, and preventive maintenance assigned by management.
  • Completes work-orders accurately, efficiently, and timely while recording the work performed.
  • Ensures that all parts, sublet labor, oil, and any other miscellaneous costs are included on the work- order.
  • Oversee RoadSafe fleet service program ensuring that vehicles are being serviced in a timely manner working closely with vendors and program administrators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Branch Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work extended or standby hours on an "on call" basis.
  • Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day.
  • Ability to bend or kneel and work with arms lifted for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to carry, lift, pull and push 50 pounds several times per day, unaided.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours.
  • Ability to display basic knowledge of DOT requirements as it relates to company fleet.
  • Ability to work around machines with moving parts and petroleum or chemical-based products, in excessive heat and cold.
  • Must have ability to travel and stay overnight for a short amount of time depending on the project needs.
