Job Description

The Assistant Supervisor of Maintenance will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our university's buildings and infrastructure. This position is a part of our Facilities Management team and reports directly to the Supervisor of Maintenance and collaborates closely with other departmental staff to uphold the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics across campus. This is a fulltime position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor of Maintenance in overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance and repair activities across campus, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimal disruption to university operations.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to maintenance staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for maintenance personnel and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Liaise with external contractors and service providers to coordinate outsourced maintenance services and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance supplies, equipment, and spare parts, overseeing inventory levels and procurement as needed.
  • Collaborate with campus security and emergency services during crisis situations, providing support and expertise to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Other Duties as assigned by administration

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Possess a strong understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, to effectively troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience working in an educational or institutional setting is a plus.
