**Position description**

The Shipping/Receiving Supervisors role includes overseeing the shipping and receiving operations & the responsibility for planning/scheduling of manpower and equipment. Further, this position will administer, monitor and maintain the on time delivery schedule, while nurturing an environment that maximizes employee safety, involvement and morale and provide damage free product to our customers.

**Essential Duties**

* Supervises Shipping and Receiving personnel and material handlers, keeping accurate time and attendance consistent with Saint Gobain Policy, scheduling time off to least impact operation of plant.

* Assign daily work duties to shipping & receiving staff ensuring safety, service and productivity requirements are met.

* Understand and train the full use of SAP to accomplish Shipping and Receiving

* Coordinate activities utilizing UPS/FedEx services.

* Develop SOP Systems to initially provide and continually improve training.

* Provide training, support and direction to employees to ensure understanding of and adherence to SOPs., SMAT and approve records.

* Organize and rotate stocks of raw materials.

* Ensure proper equipment is available and all certification requirements are met to support full environmental and climate use.

* Works in a cross-functional manner with customer service & sales, operations, purchasing, technical and production.

* Ensure visitors and contractors are monitored in secured areas and follow appropriate safety requirements.

* Ensure production needs are met for raw material and finished goods, delivery and removal

* Due to the highs and lows of work flow, ensure alternate projects are available and tackled when time permits

* Promote the safe handling of material both by example and periodic checks of drivers.

* Ensure operators are wearing required and appropriate PPE for the task at hand.

* Maintain secure file storage, both hard copy and computers.

**Fiscal Responsibilities**

* Works closely with finance and purchasing departments in developing high quality systems at the lowest cost possible.

* The incumbent will ensure optimized equipment utilization while driving overall cost reductions base on budget without impacting delivery targets/service.

* Maintain and audit weekly payroll entries of warehouse team.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**

* Maintain and enforce company policies, including all safety policies, security of the plant and company trade secrets.

* Supervise and ensure shipping employees are trained in their job skills.

* Mentor and coach team members for superior performance.

* In partnership with leadership and HR, manage the hiring, evaluating, discipline, coaching, motivating and training for all shipping employees.

**Other Duties and Responsibilities**

* Participate in shift, operational and safety meetings.

* Ensure tidiness and organization of shipping area. Suggest improvements that promote this department to become World Class. Offer input to capital projects to this end.

* Security, check for gaps and spot check procedures that prevent theft.

* Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and / or requested by management.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* High School diploma.

* 3-5 years manufacturing related experience, including warehouse and inventory management and knowledge of shipping and receiving methods

* Forklift certified and ability to properly lift 50 pounds.

* Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

* Ability to supervise and motivate staff.

* Ability to perform job duties, display a can do attitude and interact with others effectively.

* Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.

* PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation using Microsoft Office software programs. (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SAP, Outlook).

**Preferred or Desired Qualifications**

* AA degree or some college business courses.

* Familiar with building materials terminology.

* Forklift Trainer certification

* Familiar with Safety Programs in a manufacturing facility.

**Additional Requirements**

**Working Conditions**

Some travel will be required to enhance training. Occasional mandatory overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines. Working environment will include office, warehouse and outdoor work at ambient seasonal temperatures. These environments may include exposure to industrial solvents, average noise level and hazardous materials.

**Physical Demands**

Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards, whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require bending, lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs., twisting, gripping, and stair climbing. May require long periods of sitting working on a computer or engaging in conversation on a telephone.
