Position Purpose:

The Dishwasher plays a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the kitchen at Teton Science School. Tasked with washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, this position is essential for upholding high sanitation standards and ensuring a positive dining experience for all patrons. Working under the supervision of the Executive Chef, the Dishwasher contributes to the smooth operation of the kitchen by organizing and storing items appropriately, while also assisting with minor food preparation tasks. This role is crucial in supporting overall kitchen efficiency on a part-time basis, embodying a commitment to cleanliness and contributing to a well-organized culinary environment.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external constituents
  • Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn dishwashing procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of and adherence to health and safety guidelines
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • Close proximity to kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Able to stand/work in a kitchen setting for up to 10 hours a day
  • Able to bend/stoop/reach and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to operate kitchen appliances/tools/utensils/equipment
  • Perform repetitive tasks
Responsibilities:
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to established protocols
  • Organize and store cleaned items in designated areas efficiently
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of kitchen workspaces
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure a smooth flow of dishwashing activities
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to uphold food safety standards
  • Support minor food preparation tasks as directed by the Executive Chef
  • Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate efficient kitchen operations
  • Adhere to established cleaning schedules and contribute to overall kitchen hygiene
  • Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in accordance with waste management procedures
  • Assist in receiving and organizing incoming kitchen inventory as needed
  • Maintain a sense of urgency during peak times to keep up with dishwashing demands
  • Participate in periodic deep-cleaning tasks and kitchen maintenance activities
