Job Title: Welder and FabricatorJob DescriptionJoin our team as a Welder and Fabricator and contribute to the fabrication of custom structures and piping systems with precision to meet tight tolerances specified on engineered drawings. Your role will involve estimating work orders, submitting funding requests, populating online work packages, and ordering materials and tooling. You will interpret blueprints and weld callouts to fabricate hardware within drawing specifications and operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and oscillating man lifts. Additionally, you will utilize Microsoft Office 365 for work package management and develop customer relations through effective communication.Hard SkillsFabrication and Welding with 5 years of experienceProficiency in GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW on various metals including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminumExperience in fabricating structural hardware and piping systemsKnowledge of metal cutting processes including Oxygen/Acetylene, Plasma, and Carbon ArcAbility to pass multiple welding qualification tests, primarily in the 6G position, open rootSoft SkillsAbility to estimate work orders and manage funding requestsEffective communication and customer relations skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (email, Word, Excel)Job TypeThis is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Hampton, Virginia.Work EnvironmentThis role is based onsite at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton VA. You will work both independently and as part of a team of skilled Fabricators and Welders in a shop environment, with office space provided for administrative tasks. Regular shift runs from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday with overtime opportunities.
