Position Summary The Sterile Processing Technician performs duties and processes to provide centralized processing of instruments to provide quality and safe patient care. These duties are executed in such a manner, so as to be cost-effective, productive and efficient. Core Duties and Responsibilities # # # # #Checks equipment for cleanliness, functional use; inventories and documents the quantity of each instrument per tray/container # # # # #Wraps trays and product for sterilization in accordance with current policies and procedures # # # # #Verifies sterilization procedures on the appropriate form for quality assurance # # # # #Cleans and reprocesses all equipment and OR instruments upon receipt using cleaning agents and chemicals in accordance with MSDS # # # # #Returns equipment to decontamination in a safe and sanitary manner Minimum Requirements # # # # #SPD Technician Certification: CSPDT or CRCST or eligible # # # # #6 months to 1 year of hands on work experience as a SPD Tech # # # # #Basic Computer Skills # # # # #Ability to Walk/Stand for Extended Periods with the Ability to Lift/Push/Pull # # # # #Strong Organizational/Interpersonal/Communication Skills Additional information # ###To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Checks equipment for cleanliness, functional use; inventories and documents the quantity of each instrument per tray/container
- Wraps trays and product for sterilization in accordance with current policies and procedures
- Verifies sterilization procedures on the appropriate form for quality assurance
- Cleans and reprocesses all equipment and OR instruments upon receipt using cleaning agents and chemicals in accordance with MSDS
- Returns equipment to decontamination in a safe and sanitary manner
Minimum Requirements
- SPD Technician Certification: CSPDT or CRCST or eligible
- 6 months to 1 year of hands on work experience as a SPD Tech
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to Walk/Stand for Extended Periods with the Ability to Lift/Push/Pull
- Strong Organizational/Interpersonal/Communication Skills
