**Job Description**
The **Laundry Attendant** is responsible for the cleanliness of the laundry facilities while ensuring that all laundry is handled, sorted, cleaned and maintained.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:**
* Receives dirty linen and separates linens, towels etc.
* Cleans laundry by loading and unloading washers and dryers; Fills laundry machines with cleaning chemicals such as detergent, bleach, etc.
* Sorts, folds and stacks clean linens and towels.
* Stocks, cleans and organizes laundry areas and machines; Performs preventative maintenance on laundry machines by emptying lint collectors, etc.
* Informs management of any potential shortages of supplies, amenities or towels/linens.
* Immediately reports all equipment problems or repair needs to the departmental manager.
* Assist with cleaning guest rooms as needed.
* Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
* Works extra shifts and hours as required.
* Assists in other departments as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
* A solid understanding of laundry operations; Knowledge of proper use of cleaning supplies.
* Ability to read and speak in English to understand and follow cleaning and other instructions and communicate with guests.
* Knowledge of, or ability to learn, company environmental policies.
* Attention to detail and cleaning standards.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:**
* Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
* Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
* Ability to climb stairs occasionally.
* Ability to remain balanced; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, turn, push, pull, finger, grasp, and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively.
* Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
* Must be able to push, pull, and control housekeeping cart and/or similar items on inclines and declines.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repetitively.
* The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity and sometimes inclement weather.
**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:**
* High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, or previous custodial, housekeeping, customer service, or related work experience preferred.
* Prior work experience with, and knowledge of, cleaning supplies preferred.
