Importance of Role
Mental health and wellness are essential in supporting our clients and their families. We promote optimum mental, emotional, and social health and well-being. This position includes mental health counseling services in the form of psychosocial assessments, individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, family systems support, and social competence training in-person or via telehealth.

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will triage and support the initial application process of all mental health counseling clients, oversee all mental health counseling services, supervise counselors working toward licensure, and provide mental health consultation and support across programs within the Foundation.

Responsibilities - Direct Service

  • Conduct mental health counseling intakes and assessments
  • Oversee sibling support groups, webinar series, and website initiative through our nationally recognized program Sam's Sibs Stick Together
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable objectives
  • Lead individual or group therapy sessions
  • Conduct preventative mental health and wellness classes, webinars, or workshops
  • Integrate parent training, parent involvement, counseling, and communication with families across screenings, assessments, and treatment programs
Responsibilities - Administrative and Supervisory
  • Supervise mental health counseling intakes, assessments, and treatment of licensed registered interns in the fields of mental health and social work
  • Consult with team members across departments on evidence-based practices for autism as it relates to mental health and well being
  • Communicate and collaborate with outside providers to ensure consistency and continuity of care
  • Comply with supervision and direct service requirements in accordance with treatment plans and insurance authorizations
  • Participate in research projects involving mental health counseling
  • Serve as a content expert to support grant writing related to mental health counseling needs.
Team

Work with a program team of graduate/doctoral level professionals and highly experienced staff. Engage with families across the globe while overseeing mental health counselors. Participate on the Els for Autism Foundation's transdisciplinary clinical team to ensure mental health counseling consultation and support are embedded across programs.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work
  • Minimum 2-3 years' clinical experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Social Worker in the State of Florida
  • Experience working with a variety of age groups from birth-adulthood
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities and their families
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • 2-3 years clinical experience with individuals with ASD
  • Demonstrated research and presentation experience
  • Bilingual
  • PCM trained
Work Environment
  • Private counseling office environment, community or outdoor settings as appropriate
  • Desk space may be in a shared office with other clinical professionals
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel or bend as needed to support clients
