** Position Description**

**Construction Observer** Location **CT-Middletown** Division **Water** The **Construction Observer** will join our Connecticut team to work on Land Use and Transportation projects in Southwestern Connecticut scheduled to start Spring of 2022. This position can be based out of the Middletown or the Shelton offices.

*Qualifications:*

* Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field

* Minimum 2 years of experience in field inspection

* B.S. or NICET Level II Certification

* Experience with CTDOT 4 Book System a plus

* Experience in survey, design or municipal works is a plus

* Must have a working fluency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

*Responsibilities:*

* Observe contractors work to verify compliance with the project/contract

* Review shop drawings and submittals

* Maintain a daily log of completed work activities; prepare spreadsheets (MS Excel) for contractor payment, test logs, punch lists, and photos / sketches of atypical conditions

* Take measurements of completed work for payment and swing ties for record plans

* Provide insight on field design changes and payment claims for additional work

* Coordinate with client representatives, utility companies, State DOT, and adjacent residents to update progress and minimize disruption to existing infrastructure (utilities and roads)
