equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising.
They will handle all strategic purchases and be involved in the development of the overall supply chain. The successful candidate for this position has purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts.
Duties and Responsibilities All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Provides coaching to other buyers when needed Involved in strategic decision making for department Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders in Oracle or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Acts as a liaison between manufacturing/engineering and the supplier Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc. Work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to user's specific needs and specifications.
Approve invoices for payment. Expedite delivery of goods to users. Will handle strategic purchasing and strategic sourcing of goods backss demand for categories of responsibility Issue purchase orders to suppliers Issue acknowledgements Work with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered timely and accurately Identify and develop new suppliers Responsible for inventory of patterns Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products Supplier setup in ERP system Education and Experiences5-10 years experience Strong negotiating skills Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment Proven purchasing experience in manufacturing environment Experience with importing into the US and familiarity with INCO terms Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforminteractionperience with Oracle ERP is highly desirable, but not required.
Ability to read bills of material and routinginteractionperience in manufacturing job processing, shop floor management, manufacturing processes helpful Experience in strategic sourcing activities.
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in related field.
