As a six time Best of State award winner, Kids On The Move provides services throughout Utah to children with special needs and their families. Our mission is to support the development of young children through five key programs: Early Intervention, Early Head Start, the KOTM Autism Center, KOTM Respite Care, and On-site Child Care Services.

Kids On The Move is currently seeking an experienced Toddler Teacher in our Child Care Center.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Candidate must be at least 18 years old. Education in Early Childhood Development is preferred or CDA, Associates Degree or a Bachelor's Degree in teaching is preferred but not required. Experience in providing quality care to young children is required. The candidate will promote socially and emotionally healthy children and school readiness. The candidate will guide the children in accordance with all state licensing standards and other established regulations and policies. The candidate must pass a background criminal check, a TB test, obtain a Food Service Worker permit, as well as certification in First Aid, Adult/Child/Infant CPR and AED.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

* On a weekly basis, design and plan curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for each child

* Address the social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development needs of each child.

* Plan to use a variety of materials and learning centers, rotating materials as appropriate

* Implement the planned curriculum daily, modifying and adjusting as needed to meet child needs

* Greet parents and children upon arrival and departure

* Communicate on a daily basis with the parent about the child in a positive and informative way

* Maintain a safe, healthy, enriched environment that appeals to the children, including daily clean-up of the room, sanitizing toys, and following infection control guidelines and procedures

* Effectively use software to track required daily documentation (e.g., attendance logs, reports for injury or illness, infant/toddler feeding, diapering, and napping notes, etc.)

* Assist and supervise children in accomplishing daily routines, such as naps, meals, toileting, and dressing

* Follow established procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and/or neglect

* Follow established emergency procedures for accidents and natural disasters

* For children in your care, have a knowledge of each child's history, health, and release information

* Successfully use positive discipline techniques in managing child behaviors throughout the day

* must have or develop an understanding of the components of quality care,

* Continue to expand knowledge and skills in the area of job responsibilities

* Work cooperatively with the Early Childhood Education Director and teachers to ensure compliance with state licensing mandates Policies and other regulations both, state and local laws.

**COMMUNICATION SKILLS**

* Must be able to communicate in English in both written and verbal formats

* Communicate with other staff and parents in a positive, helpful, confident manner

* Share ideas and strategies with others to improve the quality of care and guidance

* Perform effectively as a team member

* Respond reasonably prompt to communication delivered via software or texts from parents

* Respond promptly to communication from the Directors and co-workers

* Resolve problems or difference of opinion within the appropriate team context

**ORAGANIZATION SKILLS**

* Must be proficient at organizing and managing work duties and materials

* All records must be completed timely including daily reports, curriculum plans, etc.

* Must demonstrate attention to detail by displaying a clean environment and ability to implement an effective lesson.

**INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:**

* Must be a gentle personality

* Must have the characteristic that allows children to easily trust

* Self-motivated individual

* Capable of working well with other staff

* Facilitating developmentally appropriate play with young children in a positive manner.

* Must be able to establish and maintain relationships of mutual respect and trust with client families, co-workers, and community partners.

**TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS**

* Must be proficient in using a computer, ipad, notebook phone and or tablet

* Send and receive internal and external e-mail communications,

* Find and view materials on the internal network.

* Use of laminator, copy machine

* Knowledgeable about programs useful in enhancing a lesson

**PHYSICAL ABILITIES**

* Must be flexible and mobile enough to keep up with children inside the outside

* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

* Able to play actively with children on the floor and active games inside or outside

* Must be aware and accept you may be exposed to some communicable illnesses.

* May need to maneuver some adaptive equipment and/or furniture or materials

* Must be aware this is a very physical mental and emotional job and must be able to accomplish job expectations without assistance

**PLAY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT**

* Engage children in sustained positive play interactions at an age appropriate level

* Must have a good understanding of typical development in children ages birth to 6

* Be willing to continue learning about child development and best teaching practices
