Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director Research Laboratory Operations.
Director, Research Laboratory Operations, Strategy and Planning, reports directly to the Associate Dean, Basic Science Research Operations and is responsible for planning and directing research laboratory operations for the research portfolio as assigned. In this capacity, shall be responsible for coordinating and managing support for institutional laboratory operations in the research enterprise and scientific core facilities including but not limited the Research Laboratory Operations (RLO) unit, the Emergency Management & Research Resilience unit (including EOP and emergency management and research resilience planning and responses to emergent situations). Responsible for supporting the development and coordination of all projects related to research space renovation, relocation and reassignment / repurposing with RED&F, the Division of Advanced Research Technologies (DART), Medical Center IT and the Office of Science and Research (OSR) leadership. Further responsible for BSRO unit operational and capital budget development and management, faculty on- and off-boarding processes as they relate to space, equipment and lab readiness, policy development as it relates to research operations, and supporting other special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MS in Biology, chemistry or relevant science or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience in academic, pharma or biotech environment. 7-10 years of research laboratory management experience in pharma, biotech or academic research environment. Individual should have a expertise with the capabilities, requirements, uses and physical conditions for active research laboratories. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact productively with leadership, faculty and staff to identify and resolve problems. Prior experience in building/facility support and management required. Excellent project and program management skills and extensive knowledge of facilities management, complex operating systems and processes required. Strong communication skills and relationship/team building skills. Excellent judgement and reasoning ability enabling problem-solving and issue resolution, with a variety of options in varying situations. Ability to work independently, take initiative and make decisions with in-depth understanding. Responsible for setting and meeting department deadlines in alignment with research operations strategic and operational plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS, PhD or equivalent relevant degree including MBA and experience applicable to research laboratory operations management ; preferred research operations management experience in biotech, Pharma or academic research environment.
- Strong preference for individuals with experience working on major infrastructure projects and management of complex academic research portfolios.
- Must be able to work effectively and lead within matrixed program and project teams.
- Strong presentation and writing skills are a priority.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $138,098.48 - $210,142.66 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
