Job Summary: This is a mid-career role responsible for supporting the Chief Development Officer on TNP s individual giving, major gifts, and events work. The position reports to the Chief Development Officer and collaborates with the Development Assistant and other staff within the department.


Responsibilities

  • Project manage development events, including our annual gala, donor cultivation events, house parties, and more
  • the management and growth of The New Press s individual giving and major donor programs, including maintaining donor and revenue records in Raisers Edge
  • research, and cultivate new and lapsed donors for unrestricted and restricted support
  • Support the Chief Development Officer in liaising with the Board of Directors on development and events
  • Coordinate, prepare for, attend, notate, and do follow-up for (as appropriate) meetings with individual donors with the Executive Director or Chief Development Officer
  • Write and coordinate fundraising campaigns, newsletter outreach and other written materials, in conjunction with the Institutional Communication Specialist, CDO, and other members of the development department
  • Maintain on-going cultivation of existing development contacts




Required Skills/Experience


Bachelor s degree

  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience with individual giving campaigns
  • with fundraising techniques, strategies, and sources
  • track record with project managing complex fundraising events, fundraising campaigns, and individual donor moves management

Strong computer skills and experience using Raisers Edge

Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including experience developing written communications for nonprofit organizations

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively managing multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines

  • 3-6+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience



Preferred Experience


Certified Fundraising Executive credentialing

Familiarity with the NYC major donor landscape

Love of reading

Familiarity with New Press books
