Description / Position Overview
SEASONAL - Golf Maintenance Worker (PT Maintenance Support) - Patty Jewett and Valley Hi
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services seeks a Golf Maintenance Worker for the City's golf courses.
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Anticipated dates of employment are from April through September. Work will vary based on the needs of the department but will typically be Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (some weekends and holidays required). Total hours worked not to exceed 1,500 annually.
Essential Job Functions- the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
- Operate equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, hand mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and sand pros
- Load and unload mower baskets, utility vehicles, and pickup trucks
- Maintain driving range, clubhouse, and maintenance areas
- Change putting green cups; top dress green and turf areas
- Repair irrigation by digging up lines from ground level to four feet deep; replace pipe and sprinklers
- Load trucksters with sand and dirt
- Apply fertilizer by filling bin on spreader and pushing and walking behind spreader for long distances
- Pick up trash receptacles and load them into utility vehicles
- Clean golf course facilities and restrooms
- Clean and fuel utility vehicles, mowers, and other fuel-powered equipment after each use; report equipment mechanical issues
- Operate self-propelled mowing equipment
Examples of Job Competencies
Knowledge of:- Various power and hand tools including blowers, chain saws, shovels, rakes, and post hole diggers
- Irrigation systems and turf maintenance
Ability to:- Safely use riding and push mowers, aerifiers, edgers, trimmers, and blowers
- Safely use tools and equipment properly and safely
- Understand and follow oral instructions
- Work around the public in a safe and courteous manner
- Provide excellent customer service
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Successful candidates will have Ideal candidates will also have - Experience which demonstrates knowledge of golf etiquette
Additional Information Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions; sit, climb, balance, bend, crawl, stoop, twist, reach, pull, stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds (with assistance) occasionally; and work around noisy equipment daily.
The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
