**Duties**

** Summary**

This position is located in he United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, ND.

**Responsibilities**

+ Performs grounds maintenance.

+ Performs the full range of cleaning activities in an assigned area involving the use of such heavy industrial-type powered equipment as scrubbers, buffers and vacuum cleaners.

+ Performs minor service and cleaning of equipment such as sharpening blades, oils and greases, and any other minor adjustments.

+ Uses heavy equipment in buildings and on grounds in a safe manner. **Travel Required**

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel occasionally for this position.

Qualifications will be determined under the Job Element Rating System X-118C, Qualifications Standard Handbook. While a specific length of time and experience is not required for most Wage Grade positions, you must show through experience and training that you possess the best qualified level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of this position. Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length. The responses to the questionnaire and your resume should be in significant detail to provide the person rating your application with a good understanding of your ability to do the job, technical knowledge, work, and training experience, etc. (For example You must have the ability to perform the duties of a, Laborer without more than normal supervision (Screen Out). **Physical Effort:**

Heavy physical effort is required when using ladders and scaffolds to clean walls ceilings, windows; operating powered equipment, removing cans or other containers of trash; continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching; and lifting and carrying items weighing over 50 pounds. Vehicle used for duties is operated in all kinds of weather in light traffic or on location. Using normal safety practices, only minor risk of injury is expected.

**Working Conditions:**

Works indoors and outdoors. Works inside with adequate light, heat and ventilation; works outside in all kinds of weather. Is subject to injury when working from ladders and scaffolds and powered equipment; to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions; and is exposed to dust, dirt, and disagreeable odors. work conditions require sitting, walking, standing driving a vehicle and mowers, bending and carrying items ranging from. light weight to moderately heavy weight.

**Conditions of Employment:**

Motor vehicle license required to operate government owned vehicles. **Education**
