UWL is looking for an experienced, well established International Logistics General Manager to join and lead our growing team in Houston, TX.

The General Manager is the leader of the entire operations team, providing direction, guidance, corrective action, and support to each of the members of the team, with support of the department managers or department supervisors. The General Manager has a fiduciary duty to the company to ensure client retention, financial health, staff development and office sales goals are met by the team.

**Your typical day looks like:**

* Ensuring customs compliance by exercising reasonable care and control over office

* Managing and/or approving post entry operations and day to day operational support including systems, client questions and research

* Client set up, introduction and maintenance

* Overseeing and managing of all products including specialized commodities, services, and modes of transport

* Assisting in growth of company/business development and profitability

* Monitoring and ensuring financial goals are met, providing updates and progress regularly to executive team

* Assisting in rate negotiations by supplying pertinent data and customer requirements to management, in addition to overseeing rate filings for local clients

* Working in conjunction with sales team to vet potential business opportunities

* Answering all general inquiries and quotes promptly

* Interviewing, hiring, terminating, executing corrective action, and participating in regular staff conversations

* Overseeing time keeping system and ensuring accurate time is recorded for approval

* Conducting annual reviews for exempt/supervisor employees and others if needed

* Recommending and implementing salary changes for staff

* Other duties as assigned

UWL is a participant in the CTPAT program and, as such, requires safety and security to be a responsibility of all personnel. Each individual will be provided training and is responsible to report any threats or anomalies to management or security immediately

**The ideal candidate will possess:**

* High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred

* Minimum of 7 years industry experience; Minimum of 5 years management experience

* A strong business acumen

* Proven problem solving and analysis skills

* Effective leadership

* Teamwork mind set

* Project management

* Extremely strong communication skills both verbal and written

* Ability to make effective decisions

* Strategic thinking

* Must be able to work with a wide range of employees, suppliers, and customers
