**General Purpose**

Perform housekeeping and cleaning functions to maintain facility standards.

**Essential Job Functions**

* Perform cleaning procedures and waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.

* Responsible for the proper use of housekeeping equipment.

* Maintain knowledge of chemicals contained within the facility.

* Report any area observed to be in poor repair to supervisor.

* Dispense soap, paper and other housekeeping supplies as directed.

* Perform work while following infection control procedures.

* Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

* Use proper body mechanics and ask for assistance when moving heavy objects.

* Perform work in an inside environment with normal temperatures and adequate lighting, where possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and unpleasant sights and smells may be present.

* Must be adaptable, flexible to changes, and able to prioritize and organize work efficiently to accomplish workload within time allotted.

* Maintain a positive attitude in relation to customer service program.

* Complies with established safety rules and regulations.

* Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment to supervisor.

* Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents rights.

* Abides by the facilitys policies, procedures and practices.

* Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility.

* Attends meetings and mandatory in-services.

* Knowledge and adherence to safety/disaster preparedness plan.

* All other duties as needed.

**Qualifications**

* High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

* Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

* Experience in a long-term care facility or acute care center is preferred.

* Knowledge of or ability to learn position procedures, techniques and equipment.

* Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, residents families and employees.

* Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

* Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.

* Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
