**Material Handler - 1st Shift**

**Role & Responsibilities**
* Handles the company's raw material to ensure smooth operation, accurate inventory levels, and efficiency in the material yard, warehouse, and department staging locations.
* Processes purchase and transfer orders, transacts upon items that have been received and items that have been taken from inventory, and moves product from the material yard or warehouse to the required location, and vice versa.
* Inspects shipments of new material as they come in, checks to make sure orders have been filled correctly, and contacts purchasing or responsible internal branch to rectify order discrepancies.
* Operates and drives gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices, such as forklift, lift beam and swivel-hook to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or manufacturing departments.
* Positions forks, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area. Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
* Assist work cell operators by moving raw material in and out of work centers
* Remove waste product and empty into appropriate dumpsters
* Move product to next step in process using forklift and/or electric pallet jack
* Load product onto motor freight when necessary
* Move completed product to storage area or shipping
* Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and safe manner
* Work in other areas or departments as assigned
* Participate in safety program
* Coordinate work orders when they are ready for production
* Maintain inventory highs/lows based on established manufacturing demands
* Pick products form warehouse shelves and floor locations
**Typical Functions**
* Loads/Unloads vendor deliveries and inter branch inventory trucks.
* Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
* Moves inventory materials to work floor and supplies workers with material as needed.
* Receives Purchase Orders and Transfer Orders through ERP System.
* Performs and assists with general maintenance and cleanup of Material storage locations including: Indoor and Outdoor Storage Locations.
**Qualifications**
* Requires previous experience with sit-down, propane and electric forklifts
* Must be able to perform maneuvers with forklifts and pallet jacks in narrow spaces.
* Requires prior experience with safety programs and training
* Must be able to consistently stand for entire 9-hour shift
* Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products
* Must be able to work 1st shift (Monday thru Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), occasionally wekends
* Must be able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies
* Requires average math skills, simple oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete simple logs and reports in English.
* Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products
* Must be able to consistently stand for entire shift
* Knowledge of basic warehouse functions is a plus, as is general mechanical knowledge
* Ability to work in a team setting
* Ability to determine proper shelf location from routing ticket
* Ability to work in a team setting
* Ability to work in a non climate-controlled shop environment
