Description
Do you love working with young children and families? Are you interested in facilitating parent/child Play & Learn groups that promote early literacy and child development, parent engagement and connecting families to local resources? If so, the YFCP Program of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts in Sutton would love for you to consider this position.
Under the supervision of the CFCE grant coordinator, the Play & Learn Group Facilitator will lead playgroups with children, ages infant up to age 6, with a parent/caregiver with curriculum based on the MA Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. The facilitator will focus on strengthening the parent-child interaction; building language skills and helping prepare young children for school readiness.
Essential Functions:
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for all families.
- Assist children and parent/caregivers in developmentally appropriate activities.
- Lead a circle time using interactive reading techniques and facilitate music & movement.
- Engage with all children and their families during every playgroup.
- Assist parents in accessing parenting information, family support services and community resources.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Collect data required by the grant.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications:- Associate Degree in education, preferably early childhood or a related field OR a minimum of two years of experience working with young children.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with parents, children and staff.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Must obtain certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- YMCA of Central Massachusetts Risk Manager Training completed prior to hire first day of employment.
Schedule: Flexible hours at 4-8 hours/week, performed on weekdays only.
Job Type: Part-Time
