PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Retail Supervisor oversees the successful operation of the front-end sales floor. Retail Supervisors work as a team to oversee all Retail Associates. Retail Supervisors are keyholders and can open and close the store as required by the needs of the business. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partner with Store Leadership- Participate in cooperative daily planning huddle with Warehouse Supervisor, Production Supervisor(s) and Store Management in order to determine daily store needs and adjust Retail Associates as necessary to meet them. Continue ongoing and open communication with entire store leadership team. Act as a keyholder by carrying keys and alarm codes. Perform operational duties required to run the store that include opening/closing the store, ensuring store security, overseeing safety of staff and customers, and acting as manager on duty in the absence of management.
Provide Excellent Customer Service- Provide consistent, excellent customer service and ensure a great shopping experience for customers. Deal with customer complaints in a timely, professional, and gracious manner. Seize on every opportunity to engage customers, both to provide a great shopping experience and to deter theft.
Maintain Front End Operations and Cash Handling- Maintain operational oversight of the cashier area, including training and maintaining proper cash management procedures, counting drawers, deposits, and bank runs.
Maintain Sales Floor Standards and Operations- Maintain operational oversight of product, including merchandising and ensuring racks are kept full of product. Understand CommunityAid's sales and marketing methods, including floor layout and merchandising, seizing on every opportunity to improve retails sales figures. Design and implement store layout at the request of Management. Ensure the proper functioning of dressing rooms, including recovery of items to the sales floor. Oversee and promote store cleanliness by adhering to all cleaning protocols.
Uphold Operational Compliance- Assist store management in ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws that apply to the company, as well as ensuring that CommunityAid policies and procedures are clearly communicated and upheld.
Focus on Safety- Ensure stores are a safe environment for both employees and customers. Monitor for safety and quickly address and correct unsafe working conditions as necessary.
Partner with Production- Work in tandem with the Production Supervisors to request products based on the needs of the sales floor, which fluctuate day to day. Adjust the sales floor as necessary in response to seasonal transitions, special sales, and supply and demand of merchandise.
Utilize Financial Analysis and Planning- Routinely gather, analyze, and report store performance data, product and marketing intelligence, and other sources of feedback with the clear intention of using this information to adjust with agility to retail needs in order to increase sales. Complete paperwork as requested by Management in a timely and accurate manner.
Supervise Retail Staff- Provide agile staffing solutions to call-offs and needs within the store, shifting Retail Associates as necessary to provide coverage. Work with store management to ensure adequate staffing, including the onboarding of new employees. Train and develop employees using system-wide communication, cultural alignment, team building and guidance, and employee recognition. Communicate performance expectations and best practices, provide coaching, and utilize existing performance management tools to fully engage employees.
Promote Employee Engagement and Morale- Keep employees engaged by using a blend of communication skills and models, sharing compelling stories, holding meetings and huddles, utilizing employee recognition, and communicating with store management to ensure associates fully understand and appreciate the work of Community Aid and their role as contributors.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of six months retail experience in a service-oriented business is desirable
Prior supervisory or management experience in a retail setting is helpful
Scheduling flexibility and evenings and weekend availability
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations defined by employee's DoL status (full-time/part-time/seasonal)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to frequently lift and carry 21 to 35 pounds.
Ability to occasionally carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to push and pull up to 20 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
