The Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission is accepting applications for employment for State Steward. The Commission has a preference for a level II or greater applicant but are willing to consider lesser levels if they have had previous employment as a racing official and have been certified by a national organization (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) approved by the Commission. For the purpose of maintaining integrity and honesty in racing, the Commission shall prescribe by administrative regulation and powers and duties of the persons employed to meet or exceed the qualifications necessary to competently perform these duties. In addition to any minimum qualifications promulgated by the Commission, the applicant must have strong writing and computer literate skills. Also, some fluency in Spanish is preferred. The applicant should have strong leadership and people skills. An applicant for the position of Steward must also have been previously employed as a Steward or Racing Official at a thoroughbred meeting for a period of not less than 45 days during 3 of the past 5 years All Commission Officials must meet regulatory requirements to obtain and maintain a Racing Officials license.

Salary and medical benefit package are competitive with the Mid-Atlantic region. This position is not pension eligible and there is no paid leave.
