DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES

Under the direction of the Department Manager 7, the Project Facilities Manager serves as the medium to large size construction, renovation, and major repair projects. This position is responsible for the overall management of the project, including proposed design, budget, and schedule. The Project Facilities Manager will assist in the bidding and awarding professional service and contractor contracts. This position functions as the department's representative with architects, engineers, construction managers, consultants, and clients. This position performs survey and inspection work relative to County parks and facilities, keeps supervisors apprised of issues beyond the original scope of work and provides recommended solutions, estimates of total cost of jobs and if necessary, prepares the appropriate documents to obtain project funding. This position reviews specifications and obtains quotes for major project related purchases, utilizes current County-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments and other duties assigned.

ELIGIBLE PERSONS:

At the time of application, eligible persons must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited college or university; AND
  • One (1) year of full-time paid experience managing the construction, renovation and major repairs of projects including bidding, designing, budgeting and scheduling of project completion; OR
  • Current certificates or licenses from a trade school in area of fields listed above or an Associate's degree in general studies, Construction Management, Facilities management or related trade school certifications; AND
  • At least two (2) years of full-time paid experience managing the construction, renovation and major repairs of projects including bidding, designing, budgeting and scheduling of project completion; AND
  • A valid State of Michigan Driver's License and an acceptable safe driving record.
