Job Details

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide academic support and guidance to students outside the classroom, review lesson content with students, explain how to solve problems, and review students' completed work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate
Must be 21 years of age to work with students in grades 9-12.
Knowledge about the core subject and connection to resources

Preferred Experience
Committed to maintaining a professional relationship with students.
Bachelor's degree in the core subject or minimum of 9 credits in the core subject or equivalent.

Navajo/Indian Preference:

Consideration for employment will be given to Navajo, American Indian, or Alaska Native Tribal members with the required documentation, including the necessary qualifications to meet the position's minimum requirements. The Navajo/Indian preference law shall apply in all aspects of the position.
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION

The position is placed on the approved NPS Substitute Pay Schedule.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work calendars are established yearly by budget and salary scale.

Primary: 21st Century Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Follow the Code of Ethics.
  • Build rapport and be a good role model for the students.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students as a part of the 21st CCLC Program.
  • Create innovative ways to get students engaged in and excited about core academic content.
  • Facilitate a learning environment that is open and non-threatening.
  • Assist students in comprehending the curriculum content intelligently.
  • Assist students to become independent and collaborative.
  • Train students in developing appropriate study skills.
  • Be prompt and courteous.
  • Dress and conduct professionally.
  • Keep all information confidential.
  • Residential 25 CFR training.
  • Professional development and training when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EVALUATION

Tutors will be evaluated in accordance with the Navajo Preparatory School Board policies and procedures.
