Summary

energyRe is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Developer to join our dynamic Development team. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development, the Project Developer will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating activities across the early to late-stage development of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and storage initiatives. The successful candidate will excel in stakeholder management, community engagement, project coordination, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the successful execution of energyRe's sustainable energy projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate activities throughout the early to late-stage development of renewable energy projects, encompassing wind, solar, and storage initiatives.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with potential and existing stakeholders, both internally and externally, to facilitate project development and ensure alignment with energyRe's goals and objectives.
  • Drive community engagement efforts to garner local support for renewable energy projects, fostering positive relationships and addressing community concerns.
  • Collaborate closely with Counsel to negotiate agreements with landowners and local officials, ensuring terms are favorable and compliant with regulations.
  • Review project layouts and data meticulously for accuracy and completeness, making necessary adjustments to optimize project performance.
  • Monitor transmission and interconnection studies and updates relevant to current and potential projects, adapting development strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate on permitting efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory institutions, ensuring compliance and timely approvals for project implementation.
  • Manage vendor contracts, payments, and activities related to development projects, ensuring vendors deliver quality services within budgetary constraints.
  • Review and provide recommendations for early to late-stage M&A prospects, contributing valuable insights to strategic decision-making processes.
  • Provide project information and support negotiations for upcoming Requests for Proposals (RFPs), maximizing project opportunities and securing new business.
  • Manage and update project budgets and schedules, ensuring adherence to financial targets and project timelines.
  • Coordinate effectively with multiple departments and team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness of activities associated with projects.
  • Provide project reports, presentations, updates, and information to executive members as needed, keeping stakeholders informed of project progress and developments.
  • Actively participate in local community outreach events, representing energyRe and promoting positive engagement with stakeholders.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development, contributing to the overall success of energyRe's projects and initiatives.


Requirements

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or related field

Required Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.

Other Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, with the ability to lead and coordinate multifaceted projects from inception to completion.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and permitting processes related to renewable energy development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review project data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in contract negotiation, vendor management, and budget oversight within the context of project development.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project site visits, meetings, and community engagement activities.


Physical Requirements

The Project Developer may be required to endure the following physical activities, environmental conditions, and physical demands, such as:
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods,
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another,
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions,
  • Repeating motions that many include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and
  • May need to climb terrain, drive vehicles, and/or walk long distances outdoors.
