****Description****
The Science Center Retail Associates are part of the public face of the Sitka Sound Science Center. The position involves daily interaction with diverse groups of locals, tourists, and visitors to Sitka. Retail Associates play an integral role in the success of the Science Centers Gift Shop by greeting guests of all ages and backgrounds, and fielding questions about Sitka while assisting customers find the unique items that are available in the gift shop.
****Tasks****
Science Center Retail Associate will:
- Welcome customers and be available to address any questions.
- Work with the Retail Manager to ensure the products are neat and well organized.
- Stocking and organizing
- Cleaning of shop and front of building
- Checking out customers on computer system
- Keeping track of items to re-order
- Changing displays with direction from retail manager
- Assist visitors with directions and recommendations for other Sitka attractions
- Suggest visitors go to SSSC if they havent and have general knowledge of SSSC

- You are a self-starter that can identify tasks and follow through.

- You enjoy talking with new people and go out of your way to be welcoming.
- You look forward to taking on new or different tasks throughout each day.
- Youre a curious person who enjoys pitching in with other departments to broaden your experience.
