Description

Responsible for handling all functions of inserting equipment with inserting, ink jetting, cameras & sorting tasks including set up, machine operation, trouble shooting and mechanical aspects to provide a product which meets customer quality and time requirements while meeting company profitability requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  1. Set up, operate, and maintain the inserter and all associated in-line equipment.
  2. Follow all established processes associated with the operation of the inserter and in-line equipment while meeting quality expectations..
  3. Read and follow runlist instructions and follow sign-off / continuity procedures.
  4. Perform all Helper duties, including setting up stations and packaging requirements.
  5. Run and sort all normal jobs as a one person operation.
  6. Inform Shift Leader and show ability to order supplies or parts when needed.
  7. Communicate with next shift about status of job(s) and any special instruction through the use of the hour by hour books that should be filled out thoroughly and TPM checklists to show equipment condition.
  8. Demonstrate leadership and ability to train and coach in working with others.
  9. Run the machine through cross-over whenever you come into a machine that has been running.
  10. Work and assist in other areas as needed.
  11. Complete mail sorting training/certification and have the ability to train others to sort following USPS standards.
  12. Complete all required paperwork and use timekeeping, system efficiently.
  13. Work with the team to improve the workflow and maintenance on this equipment.
  14. Be cooperative, positive and respectful with management, coworkers and team.
  15. Aggressively seek out opportunities for company and self-improvement and cross train on other equipment whenever time permits..
  16. Participate and support continuous improvement activities.
  17. Attend and participate in the scheduled Cost Center meetings.
  18. Follow the Help Chain protocol to minimize downtime on the machine you are running.
  19. Ensure all safety policies are followed and hold a high regard for the safety of others.
  20. Responsible for informing leader of any concerns that arise.
  21. Participate in 6S/Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  22. Hold TPM at the highest level, logging all maintenance that is done on the equipment with dates, times and issues.
  23. Complete other tasks requested by Leader.

  • Strong self-starter; ability to perform duties without being told.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Physical effort - refer to physical demand analysis.

Fluency in the English language is a requirement for this position to ensure the safety of all employees and team members.
