Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Solar Consultant to help homeowners go solar and save on their electric bills. Our Solar Consultants represent Certasun and our market-leading equipment from SunPower during consultations with homeowners. This person will move opportunities through the sales pipeline from consultation to contract signing. If you're excited about being on the front lines of a fast-growing industry, and passionate about bringing clean solar energy to the Chicagoland area, this could be an exciting opportunity for you.
This person will be part of a 10-person sales and marketing team, and will also periodically collaborate with our operations team post-sale.
A few things that might make this role different from other solar sales roles:
Mostly (or entirely) online consultations
No cold-calling or door-knocking
Leads are pre-qualified by our in-house solar associates
Significant support from an in-office sales and operations team
Partnership from company leadership in helping you win sales
Responsibilities
Become an expert in residential solar, battery, and electric vehicle charging equipment (EVSE) (training provided)
Set up and lead solar consultations with prospective customers
Generate custom solar, storage, and EVSE proposals based on customer needs
Maintain relationships with customers from consultation all the way through installation
Generate new business by referral
Provide Certasun leadership with regular reports on sales efforts
Participate in weekly sales team meetings (virtual) and monthly in-office days in Buffalo Grove
Represent Certasun at industry events (optional)
Qualifications
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
Ability to explain complex topics simply and persuasively
Technologically savvy, experience with CRM software, ideally Salesforce, preferred
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Good judgement; committed to professionalism, honesty, and integrity
Authorized to work in the United States for any employer
Innate desire to grow and improve; able to take constructive feedback
Previous experience in sales, and especially solar, is preferred
Able to commute to the company headquarters in Buffalo Grove monthly, and more during training
Benefits
Target compensation of $140,000 (based on personal performance); uncapped commissions
Bonuses for outstanding performance
Base salary of $32,000
Full benefits package including medical insurance, 401(k) with company matching, etc.
