Position Description: As the Safety and Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting a preventative maintenance program of all Life Safety equipment and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs on agency's fleet of vehicles. You will coordinate all inspections, testing and repairs of equipment to minimize the impact on other agency, departments, programs, and schedules. The Safety and Security Supervisor will also oversee assigned staff through assigning work tickets, work schedules, and training as well as perform an annual evaluation of each staff member and conduct immediate counseling whenever needed throughout the year.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Helping to maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the campuses. Lead Proactive Risk Assessment team and follow through with required documentation, improvements and updates.
  • Keeping current all Life Safety logs and reports including Fire Extinguishers, Evacuation Drills, Fire alarm/suppression testing and Safety Inspections. Will be an active member on Safety Committees.
  • Through in-services and meetings keep all staff informed of industry, code and agency changes or policy updates. Maintain employee attendance time sheets and records.
  • Coordinate with and monitor contractors and vendors as assigned and required.
  • Generate and/or maintains various daily, weekly or monthly reports/records; maintains various logs, supply inventories and records.
  • Act as a second set of hands to primary maintenance workers as necessary. Performs routine maintenance and repairs utilizing tools, materials or other necessary equipment to hasten repair work.
  • Exhibit teamwork, leading by example and actions. Collaborate with other departments routinely to identify, assist and eliminate functional, design and problems with Life Safety systems that interfere with the department's ability to execute their functions in a safe and expedient manner.
  • Emergency on-call for after-hours to coordinate the resolution of critical problems. Communicate to convey special instructions to on-site staff to assist them in resolving critical problems. Some after-hours on site response may be needed.

Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required along with additional training in Life Safety equipment and/or Security services.
  • Five years of demonstrated work experience in Facilities that includes at least two years of supervising others.
  • Previous work experience in schools, hospitals, or retirement communities is preferred.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Some local travel between sites is expected.
  • Basic computer skills are a must.
  • The ability to diagnose and troubleshoot Life Safety systems is preferred.
  • Effective use of written and oral communication skills is essential with strong organizational skills.
