BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent

SKILLS:
  • Excellent communication skills with residents, staff, families and the public
  • Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, and other designated organization-approved electronic software

EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with the Senior population preferred

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
  • Assist in coordination of therapeutic recreation programs and general volunteer programs beneficial to the residents at the Home
  • Assume responsibility and duties of the Director when he/she is absent

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid driver's license, unless there are extenuating circumstances
  • Support the Mission, Values and Vision of the Holland Christian Home
  • Understand and honor the Christian principles of the organization
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Residential Living principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity in all interactions with residents
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the aging process, cognitive impairments, Alzheimer's and other dementias
  • Ensure all assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident / facility information are kept confidential; ensure the departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines
  • Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information system
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance as well as confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data
  • Exhibit concern for safety and well-being of staff, residents, families, and visitors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assist with general coordination of the program of therapeutic recreation considering residents' individual needs, interests and limitations
  • Assist in cognitive and physical one-to-one programs for sensory stimulation
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining necessary records for group activities and one-to-one visits
  • Create and maintain activity bulletin boards, monthly birthday picture boards and new resident picture board
  • Assist with transporting wheelchair-bound residents to activities
  • Assist with general coordination of programs for volunteers considering their individual talents, interests and needs
  • Assist in carrying out regulations, policies and procedures of the Home
  • Participate in the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Program (QAPI)
  • Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work
  • Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts
  • Collect required data for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) purposes, as directed

OTHER DUTIES:
  • While driving company vehicles, wear a seat belt and assist Residents with seatbelts, which must be worn at all times
  • Timely completion of all required in-services
  • Must be present for at least one mandatory annual fire drill
  • Must participate in annual N95 Fit Testing
  • All other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assigned

HOURS OF WORK:
  • Four days per week (32 hours)
  • As per department schedule
  • Weekends, if required
