Job Description:
Accounts Payable Supervisor/Lead
* Supervises staff and students in Payments Department includes interviewing and hiring, monitoring workflow, performing evaluations, and providing direction and training as needed.
* Implements policies and procedures related to university payments and provide interpretation and direction as needed.
* Facilitates Procurement Card program. Includes training cardholders, monitoring cardholder compliance with policies and procedures, managing the Procurement Card computer system, and recommending cancellation of card as necessary.
* Reviews requests for payment and purchase orders documents for appropriateness and accuracy as well as available budget in preparation for payment.
* Ensures proper record-keeping of sales & use tax.
* Manages and processes annual 1099 forms ensuring all deadlines are met.
* Provides training to campus departments regarding Accounts Payable policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
* Maintains Accounts Payable operational documents including policies, procedures, and operational work flow diagrams.
* Assists Accounting Manager in Accounts Payable operational analysis and university-wide financial analysis.
* Provides backup to other Finance staff during busy workload periods, vacations and illnesses.
* Recommends improvements to current procedures and policies.
Requirements:
* Two year degree in Business or related field. Bachelors degree is preferred.
* At least two years work experience in Accounts Payable or Purchasing environment with one year supervisory experience.
* Ability to work independently.
* Basic understanding of accounting and finance.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and regulations.
* Proficient in Excel and demonstrated knowledge of mainframe computer applications.
* Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
* Ability to work well in a team environment.
