Physician Assistant (PA) - Family Medicine


Job Details

Responsible for providing general and preventative care, conducting check-ups, treating illnesses, ordering lab tests and prescribing medication for children and adults. Helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations.

Physician Assistant Essential Functions:

  • Performing physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
  • Administering and performing diagnostic tests and laboratory tests
  • Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
  • Detecting changes in patients' health and modifying treatment plans, as needed.
  • Educating and counseling patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care
  • Facilitating the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g., admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Planning and managing patient care according to the patient's needs
  • Ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPPA, OSHA, etc.
  • Actively maintaining knowledge of current medical research and trends


Physician Assistant Education and Experience:

  • Board Certified PA licensure required
  • Must have a current PA license to practice in the state of New Jersey

Physician Assistant Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment required to perform your work.
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare workers, and collaborate with team members
  • Must be able to think critically, evaluate various options to treat a condition and then identify the one he or she decides will have the best outcome.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced yet friendly environment
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion concerning health service records and information
