***Agency Description***

Town Watch Integrated Services (TWIS) trains, organizes, and provides equipment to residents who want to be a part of Town Watch groups in their community. Town Watch volunteers patrol areas and document and report any suspicious or criminal activities.

Our membership includes law enforcement agencies, neighborhood and community groups, state and regional crime prevention associations, and a variety of businesses and civic groups.

In addition to helping communities organize to reduce crime and blight, TWIS also supports:

* Safe Corridors, a program that protects students traveling to and from school.

* Citizens Emergency Response Training (CERT), which teaches groups what to do in case of disaster.

* Drug prevention, leadership, and anti-bullying programs.

* Neighborhood cleanups.

**Job Description**

**General Definition**

The Town Watch program is a volunteer-assisted safety effort that creates Town Watch groups throughout the city so that residents participate in the safety of their neighborhood. Town Watch program also assists with the development of safe walking routes to and from schools and safe haven locations in the event of an emergency. Parents, residents and members of the community who wish to participate in a Safe Corridor Program or develop a Town Watch group will receive technical assistance and logistical support provided by Town Watch Integrated Services.

The Community Support Specialists duties include planning, promoting, and facilitating volunteer outreach programs and related activities; conferring with and coordinating activities with city departments, community-based organizations, civic associations, business owners, and residents. The Community Support Specialist will also maintain a healthy volunteer pool and a flexible deployment method that creates real-time solutions to neighborhood needs related to safety and public health. The Community Support Specialist is responsible for creating a public awareness strategy to keep residents engaged in both Town Watch and safe corridors. They will also assist residents with addressing quality of life issues in their community.

**Work Performed**

* Researches and conducts surveys and studies to identify impact of the Safe Corridors on health and safety

* Provide volunteers with orientation and ongoing training as needed

* Collect and maintain all pertinent volunteer records; including intake forms, sign in sheets, time sheets, and referral forms

* Assist with the recruitment of volunteers for TWIS programs

* Attends crime prevention training and seminars to keep abreast of current trends in crime prevention

* Speaks before special interest and residents groups to disseminate information, answer questions and generate support for the TWIS program

* Expand both public and private support and partnerships

* Track volunteers participation in community revitalization and anti poverty initiatives

* Prepares monthly and annual activity reports to reflect program activity

* Responsible for quality assurance and program compliance

* Performs other related duties as assigned

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

* Knowledge of objectives, methods, and problems of public administration.

* Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of management and business administration.

* Knowledge of public relations, promotions, and media.

* Ability to coordinate various projects in an efficient and effective manner.

* Ability to develop long-term plans and programs.

* Ability to collect and interpret data through administrative studies and surveys.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department heads, law enforcement officials, citizens groups, and the general public.

* Ability to present programs and ideas orally and in writing and to speak effectively to public groups and civic organizations.

**Qualifications**

* Experience should include a minimum of two years of crime prevention or educational development, the ability to develop and implement programs, planning and administration, coordination of volunteers, public speaking, writing, and public relations.

* Pennsylvania driver's license required prior to employment.
