Functions include operating washer and dryer, pressing garments under proper finishing procedure, and assemble garment according to orders. Press Employee uniforms, guest laundry and maintaining production, quality, safety standards, check equipment, and maintain work area clean.
**TASKS**:
The tasks that are essential to perform the functions of the position are:
Count and separate various types of garments and otherwise prepare them for laundering in a large volume commercial washing machine or dryclean machine
Separate and untangle wet garments following the wash cycle or dryclean
Sorting garments by classification
Lifting large, but easily managed bundles, place moist garments into large commercial drier
Remove dried garments from dryers and put them into clean cart
Operating finishing equipment such as utility press, pants press, hot head press, or shirt press machines.
Hand folding, assembling, bagging or binding garments under proper finishing procedures
Chemical handling and safety procedures
Hanging garments/uniforms on racks
Keeping production records
Help co-workers wrap cleaned garments/uniforms
Deliver guest laundry to guest room
Correct maintenance and use of equipment such as start or stop, changing programs, clearing machine errors and jams, and cleaning includes operator maintenance
Sweep and vacuum floor
Keep dryer/ dryclean machine filters free of lint
Wipe down equipment surfaces with cleanser as needed
Other duties as assigned
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations, such as slippery floors
Ability to move body to floor level and move about
Ability to support oneself in an erect and/or completely upright position, physically be able to stand and/or walk at least 95% of the day
Daily physical activities are repetitive bending, reaching, lifting up to 75 lbs. and carrying, moving objects/materials and clean up of various soils, infectious materials, or body fluids
Ability to substantially press against something with a steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward and to exert a considerable force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion
Ability to raise substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position
Ability to apply considerable grasping type pressure to an object
Ability to be subject to substantial repetitive motion of the body or its parts
