JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

With relation to current production schedule, coordinates crew and assigns duties to ensure production lines have ingredients needed to complete the production schedule. Maintain effective communication with operations manager, shift supervisor, maintenance supervisor, warehouse supervisor, operations lead, mixer, operator, and QA personnel.

This job requires theInventory Control Supervisor to perform the following tasks:

  • Supervise the activities of Cycle Counters, Backflush Coordinator & Cost Accountant.
  • Supervise the activities of Ingredients Team, Inventory Control Team, Line Supply & Receiving Team.
  • Learn how to use and navigate through Just Foods along with Business Central used by each team member and self. Develop and update MWI and SOPs for areas used in Receiving, Ingredients and Inventory control members.
  • Assist when needed to complete daily task.
  • Monitor suppliers and monthly budget.
  • Support the scheduling of batch weighing and staging of hot rooms to prevent production shutdowns.
  • Review all shop orders for missing transactions and mistakes.
  • Verify and investigate discrepancies of raw materials based off cycle counts and orders.
  • Initiate and assist in developing corrective actions for inventory discrepancies and missing inventory.
  • Review of Shelf Life Remaining, FIFO Concerns and RM Holds Reports daily to ensure cost reductions.
  • Control the placement of ingredients that are Organic/Allergens to comply with proper storage requirements.
  • Manages counseling, disciplinary, and corrective actions as necessary. Upholds all company policy and procedure.
  • Delegate and monitor the cleaning and maintenance of yard, tomato storage area, warehouses 1, 2, 3 and 8 along with weigh room to ensure audit ready at all times.
  • Work well with team members to provide information for the coordination of supplies to the production line, ingredients room, and warehouses/freezer.
  • Delegate, monitor, and oversee the clerks responsible for the ticket identification and all computer records necessary to maintain accurate inventories of ingredients in warehouses 1, 2, 3, 8 and coolers 4, 6, 9 and Freezer 5, using Just Foods/Business Central.
  • Maintenance of employee requirements, training, schedules, and recommends disciplinary actions, as required. Meet weekly with all New Hire employees during 90 day introductory period with documented contact to build working relationships and promote retention within the department. Use Food Safety procedures to ensure quality product.
  • Input and maintain Just Foods schedule.
  • Use handheld scanner to make Ingredients, Raw material, and Finished Goods moves.
  • Monitor ingredients and Warehouses and Coolers to ensure FIFO is being followed and being put in storage locations and assigned to each job correctly and accurately.
  • Monitor the outside yard and ensure bin parts and drums are being rotated out. Schedule pickups for pallets and dumpsters.
  • Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

1. 65% Responsible for ensuring that safety, company policy, quality procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) including Master Sanitation Schedule, are understood, and followed by members. Serving as the catalyst in developing members to prevent and solve problems. Ensuring that productivity goals are achieved and setting directions for the ingredients team and Receiving Team to accomplish these goals. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. Responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in the ingredients & warehouse area. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  1. 20% Responsible for performing daily and weekly planning to assure that the scheduling of ingredients and receiving, personnel, and products are utilized in the most cost-efficient manner. Responsible for communicating with other shifts any information that might aid the production supervisor/QA personnel on those shifts. Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the ingredients & warehouse area.
  1. 10% Additional responsibilities include verifying the availability of raw materials, preparing for daily production start-ups and daily ingredients reports and Attendance. Enforce safety and sanitation regulations. Interviewing, hiring staff, taking disciplinary action as necessary, and employee evaluations as required
  1. 5% perform other duties as needed or assigned by manager.

Education Level and Focus:

High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred. A willingness to continue education through approved courses or classes that will enhance personal and professional growth.

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

5 years + in a leadership position implementing tracking systems and procedures. Teaching, training, and directing Team members. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Exposure to manufacturing environment, forklift training, computer skills, and math skills, Inventory Experience in a Warehouse environment

Technical and Analytical: Ability to use Microsoft programs; Excel, Word, Outlook. Ability to reconcile case counts and material usage in raw ingredients as well as packaging yields. Experience in product development and working with support organizations i.e. Research and Development, Quality Assurance, customer representatives. Experience in supervising processes and employees through Regulatory audits. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Administrative and Operations: Experience in developing S.O. P's. Ability to train employees in policy/procedures as well as teaching employees on safe work habits and completing all injury reported documents. Ability to develop line reports and tracking systems for efficiencies, Inventories, and material usage reconciliations. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Physical Demands: Agile, ability to stand for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 40+lbs, pushing, pulling, stretching.

Work Environment: Food plant, cold, hot, and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift, and pedestrian traffic

Special Equipment Used: Forklift, printer and copier, scales, pumps, stretch wrappers, label machines. Communication radios, Communication radios and PC computers.
