Objectives

Individual is responsible for performing skilled work in assigned area(s) (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing) requiring special licenses and/or certification. Individual receives direction from Lead Maintenance Specialist. Individual may be assigned to assist in coordination of installation, maintenance, and repair work in their occupational specialty and to perform general trade and maintenance activities as a worker. Individual reports to Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Standards

High School diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience and/or technical training in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscape, and/or other skilled trade including professional level experience in building trades and/or facilities maintenance.
Individual must possess an Ohio EPA Type I and II or Universal HVAC Certification and/or Professional Certification and/or Trade License in HVAC, Electrical, and/or Plumbing.
Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment.
All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Essential Functions

  • Diagnoses repairs and prepares material and labor estimates;
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs complex systems and equipment in one or more areas of assignment such as boilers, electrical, air conditioning systems, mechanical and plumbing systems;
  • Maintains records of installation, maintenance and repair orders to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file; prepares status reports for projects;
  • Assists in coordinating projects related to installation, maintenance and repair work within area of assigned duties including planning and scheduling work and equipment; May provide project lead direction to staff in technical areas of assignment;
  • Inventories and orders supplies, parts, equipment and materials for projects and programs including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendors; maintains adequate supply levels and inventory controls;
  • Performs all types of maintenance, including preventative duties and repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment;
  • Utilizes skills in carpentry, masonry, painting and lock maintenance;
  • Unclogs drains, repairs damaged pipes, maintains roofs, gutters and down spouts;
  • Performs miscellaneous projects utilizing hand tools and power equipment as needed;
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
  • Drives vehicles to various locations as required;
  • Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations;
  • Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required;
  • Responds to emergency maintenance calls during and outside typical business hours;
  • Attends various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops;
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
