Basic Purpose of the Job
Under direct supervision of the Street Superintendent and Streets Foreman. Performs a variety of duties in the maintenance of city streets, chipping branches, emptying trash cans downtown and other general clean up. Learns and adheres to safety standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under the general direction and guidance of the Streets Superintendent and Streets Foreman. Must be able to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

Physical Demands: Performing the duties of this job requires mobile physical requirements; the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting requirements of 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. Hand/eye coordination for operation of equipment, vision for driving; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees.

Work Environment: Outside work, with exposure to outside elements, with walking and driving in inclement weather conditions. Must be able to withstand contact with a variety of air particulates. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat and cold, and frequent exposure to vibration. The noise level is frequently loud.

Example of Duties/Knowledge & Skills

  1. Performs assigned duties that may include but are not limited to chipping branches, asphalt patching, picking up trash containers downtown, completing work orders for debris and trash removal, traffic control setup for events, raking/shoveling asphalt and other paving materials.
  2. Operates hand and power tools.
  3. Follows safety regulations in accordance with city guidelines. Practices proper safety precautions related to all work performed.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
    instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to safely operate power equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak
    season.
  • Ability to comply with safety standards.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, and procedures involved in the construction, repair, and
    maintenance of public streets and facilities; some knowledge of finishing concrete and mixing
    asphalt, and oiling streets.
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
Licensures & Certificates (must be active and current.)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience in similar position preferred.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license with acceptable driving record.

  • $500 bonus for employees with a CDL*.
  • $250 bonus for staying the full seasonal contract length
  • Free Black Canyon Golf Course membership during the seasonal contract length
*Must fulfill the entire contract to be eligible for the bonus.

40 hours per week up to 23 weeks, days and times may vary OR 40 hours per week up to 12 weeks, days and times may vary.
