Job Description:

Norwich University seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Health and Human Performance who can diversify the areas of expertise within the department, and who can create innovative and authentic learning experiences in and out of the classroom. The Department is home to the Master of Athletic Training program as well as three undergraduate programs: Exercise Science, Health Science, and Physical Education. To complement recent CAAHEP accreditation of the exercise science program, we are also looking to support emerging programs in Health Sciences at the university. Successful candidates will be eligible for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Primary responsibilities include teaching current courses at the undergraduate level in the Exercise Science and Health Science programs. Other duties include academic advising, departmental service, and engaging in scholarship/professional development in support of the programs' mission. Successful candidates will support programmatic goals in accordance with regulatory guidelines set forth by the accrediting body for the program(s) they serve.

Requirements:

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level requires a terminal degree in a relevant exercise science-related discipline (ABD considered). Appointment at the Associate Professor level requires the terminal degree plus at least 6 years of teaching experience at the Assistant Professor level.

The successful candidates will demonstrate professional development resulting in expertise and the ability to teach courses within at least (and ideally more than) one of the following disciplines: strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology, performance nutrition.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Currently hold or be willing to complete requirements for CSCS and/or ACSM-CEP certifications, with relevant work experience and expertise to teach advanced Exercise Science courses.

* Experience teaching effectively at the undergraduate level.

* Experience and/or demonstrated interest in mentoring student research.

* Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following content areas: submaximal and maximal metabolic testing, EKG testing, developing, and administering strength and conditioning programs, working with the tactical athlete, and performance nutrition.

* Relevant experience and interest in becoming a future Program Director for the Exercise Science program.

* Interest and ability to engage in clinical/professional practice, and/or applied research, with communities on or near the Norwich University Campus.
