PotlatchDeltic is seeking applicants to fill a Saw Filer position at the Gwinn Lumber Mill. The successful candidate will be responsible to inspect, sharpen, balance, maintain, and replace saw blades, knives, planer heads, and associated hardware including guides and spacers as required for maintaining manufacturing efficiencies within the plant operations.
The hourly pay range for this position is $26.9543 - $34.7193
Production & Quality
Perform cutting, machining, welding, forging/casting, hand hammering, and filing.
Use computerized machining equipment.
Replace all the saw blades two times in a 24-hour period with newly sharpened, repaired, and inspected blades. Repair saw blades as needed.
Replace planer heads two times per week.
Set up and calibrate equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Safety & Environmental
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
High School Diploma or GED required.
A good attendance, work, and safety record.
Basic understanding of computers and window-based programs.
Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Ability to work weekends.
Knowledge of multiple complex equipment operations.
The ability to perform basic algebra equations.
Successfully complete the written and practical testing requirements.
Able to climb stairs and catwalks at elevated levels.
Able to carry tools, bend, read gauges, and use radio.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be capable of working in hot, dusty, cold wet, dirty, confined working environment on occasion.
Must be able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to provide own tools including socket set, wrench set, & screwdrivers.
