Duties and Responsibilities

Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, backhoe, man-lift, dump truck, snowplow, road grater, front-end loader, hydraulic excavators, and skid steers.

Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.

Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.

Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain. Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.

Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludge, trimming backfills, or building roadways or parking lots.

Knowledge of how to use a laser to check grade.

Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job site.

Follow project instructions from Projects Manager or Supervisor.

Prepare new construction sites by digging, moving dirt or compacting space.

Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials.

Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance.

Ensure company equipment, tools and material is maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand, walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; climb ladders; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to moderately loud.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include correctable vision to complete work in a safe manner.
