Sous Chef Job

We are seeking a passionate and talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef at Coast Guard House, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality, creativity, and presentation. You ll work closely with our Executive Chef to lead a dynamic kitchen team and ensure seamless operations.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Executive Chef:

    • Design and execute seasonal menus that showcase local and sustainable ingredients.
    • Ensure that dishes reflect the restaurant s culinary vision and meet quality standards.
  2. Kitchen Operations:

    • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
    • Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  3. Hygiene and Safety:

    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen.
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations.
  4. Inventory and Cost Control:

    • Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies.
    • Control food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing portion sizes.
  5. Consistency and Presentation:

    • Ensure consistency in taste, portion sizes, and presentation.
    • Adapt to changing business needs, including special events, private parties, and catering.
Qualifications

  1. Culinary Expertise:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a full-service restaurant kitchen.
    • Strong background in culinary techniques and flavor profiles.
  2. Leadership Skills:

    • Ability to lead and motivate a team during busy shifts, maintaining composure under pressure.
  3. Creativity:

    • Passion for creating innovative dishes while respecting classic culinary traditions.
  4. Adaptability:

    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  5. Trend Awareness:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, new ingredients, and techniques.
