Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Patient Transportation, the Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of patient transportation services through the accurate and timely dispatch of customer requests and efficient assignment of transport personnel to designated tasks including patient admissions, discharges, and related processes.At Cleveland Clinic, we know what matters most. When you join Cleveland Clinic, you'll be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare.Schedule: Monday, Friday, every other weekend; 2:30pm-11pmResponsibilities:Exhibits excellent listening skills and telephone etiquette under heavy call volume, while maintaining professionalism at all times (may be monitored by management to ensure quality).Utilizes telephone, fax, paging system, and computer software to prioritize and distribute patient related tasks to Transporters in a timely and effective manner so as to maximize resource productivity and patient throughput.Provides accurate and timely input of information into transportation software to ensure proper identification and safety of patient care and tracking thereof.Resolves and follows up on dispatch problems related to patient, visitor, staff or employee complaints as appropriate.Monitors and maintains daily sign-in/out and shift logs.Monitors productivity and response times in accordance with department quality standards and reports variances to management.Identifies system-related problems and reacts quickly to escalate issues to appropriate personnel for corrective piles special reports from system as requested by management.Transports patients during peak periods or emergencies as called upon.Other duties as assignedEducation:High school graduate or equivalent.Certifications:None requiredComplexity of Work:Ability to type minimum of 30 wpm and successful completion of an alphanumeric data entry test.Proficient in the use of computer software (e.g. MS Word Excel Windows environment).Work Experience:Patient transportation experience preferred.Demonstrated excellent customer service skills necessary to interact motivate and communicate with a wide range of hospital personnel in a professional manner and under stressful situations.Demonstrated ability to multi-task and effectively organize maintain and prioritize a high volume of requests and tasks simultaneously.Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with others.Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest measure of confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to perform the functions of a patient transporter to include lifting and transferring patients as needed during peak times and emergencies.Physical Requirements:Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as requiredPay RangeMinimum hourly: $15.00Maximum hourly: $18.44The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
