POSITION: Hardware Technician

JOB SUMMARY

To install, repair and maintain various types of locks, door hardware, and key systems district wide.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Certification as a professional locksmith, preferred;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Valid Georgia Driver's License and maintain a good driving record;
  • Ability to setup and utilize step and extension ladders;
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs.;
  • Ability to utilize hand trucks and/or pallet jacks for loads up to 200lbs.;
  • Ability to perform the essential physical job functions/responsibilities of the position.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and door hardware;
  • Maintains accurate records and reports to include proper forms for inventory and surplus items;
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance on tools and equipment for all door and locks and evaluates replacements if and when needed;
  • Cuts new or duplicates keys using key cutting machine and biting charts;
  • Replaces and adjusts door closers and various types of door hardware;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REPORTS TO: Technical Services Supervisor

SALARY RANGE: Twelve months. Salary in accordance with the DCCS Compensation Guide.
