Sr. Buyer - Charge Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Buyer - Charge Analyst will direct procurement activities, supply management and charging/billing of pharmaceuticals. The individual in this role will be crucial to ensuring efficient procurement processes, accurate billing practices and helping ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Pharmacy Business Analyst Duties

* Serve as a liaison to Finance, Central Billing, Revenue Integrity, Compliance, Patient Services, Materials Management, EPIC for the University of Miami , which includes hospitals and out-patient infusion satellites on any pharmacy related issues to ensure accurate billing practices

* Assists with medication formulary list and charge description maintenance, which include timely drug addition/deletion, coding and pricing updates

* Completes Pharmacy Work Queue's on a daily basis to ensure work queues issues, edits, bill holds, charge discrepancies or any drug charge issues are reviewed and resolved as necessary

* Assist Hospital Finance in providing treatment estimates as requested

* Assist Pharmacy administration with drug budget, medication-utilization management, contact compliance through the GPO and 340b programs

* The Sr. Buyer - Analyst maintains timely communication with hospital administration regarding all price changes, including but not limited to deletions and additions to ensure accuracy of the hospitals charge master files

* Assists in validation of new drug code for electronic medical records

Pharmacy Administrative/ Purchasing Duties

* Recommends and prepares justification to request and defend projected requirements for changes in purchase order allotments as a result of changed formulary or inventory needs.

* Assists when needed in the direct procurement activities, supply management, shipping and receiving of all pharmaceutical drugs, intravenous solutions and supplies for hospital

* Transmits Interdepartmental Requisitions (IDR) and submit to accounts payable (A.P) on a monthly basis for processing

* Immediately contacts vendors, manufacturers, sales representatives if there are any delivery or pricing discrepancies as well as product or device defects that may cause health hazard. Assures that all communications are documented and are followed-up until credit, return or resolution is achieved.

* Assists the Pharmacy Buyer and Assistant Buyer when necessary to receive, check-in and store all incoming merchandise. Ultimately responsible for insuring inventory accuracy and accountability.

* Assists in the review of invoices for accuracy with proof of delivery, reconciling records with accounting for timely payment

* Assist the 340b team in making sure the institution is compliant with all 340b program guidelines and purchasing appropriateness

* Assists as necessary the inventory for top 100 drug for end of the month dispense & purchase reconciliationTop of Form
