DOT Safety Manager

Summary:


This position is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the transportation process, from loading to unloading, meet all DOT safety CTPAT security regulations. The Safety Manager must have an extensive knowledge of DOT standards, including vehicle maintenance, and CTPAT regulations, be able to interpret them correctly, while creating and/or implementing programs to drive a safe and compliant work environment


What You ll Be Doing:


Be prepared to manage any safety incident. Perform post incident reviews to determine root cause and initiative corrective actions for future prevention.

Ensure that all materials and cargo are shipped in accordance with DOT and CTPAT regulations and that they are handled safely and securely.

This includes making sure that all materials are properly packed, labeled, and loaded according to DOT standards.

Interpret the regulations and create procedures that support the safe transport of materials and cargo, such as training for employees, regular equipment and freight inspections, audits, and fully utilizing safety systems.

Identify and analyze potential risks, such as hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, and develop strategies to prevent incidents or mitigate their consequences.


Education & Experience:


Experience working in a DOT-regulated environment. Knowledgeable about environmental regulations and laws, and able to ensure that the organization is in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Proven ability to develop and implement environmental management systems and emergency response plans.

Expert ability to communicate with all stakeholders, including management, employees, and customers.

Expert ability to clearly explain DOT / CTPAT regulations and safety procedures based on ISO 39001x , and be able to recognize and resolve safety issues quickly.

Proven ability to report safety statistics and other records accurately and on time.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
