Civil Designer


Job Details

We currently have a Civil Designer opening in our Douglassville, PA office relocating to the Reading area in May. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects within the critical infrastructure industry. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with engineers and other designers, produce construction drawings and plan set to company standards using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Identify utilities, develop as-built plans, and set up plans with proposed improvements working with the engineer s layout.
  • Perform thorough quality control edits (red lines) of construction documents as directed by the design team and utilizing the correct project and/or company standards.
  • Work closely with design leads and engineers in recommending the best use of CAD tools to achieve project objectives, and troubleshoot and resolve issues with CAD tools.
  • Support the project team with a willingness to take on more responsibilities as your experience evolves.


Capabilities and Credentials:

  • 0-5 years of experience performing civil designs utilizing field surveys.
  • The educational requirement of technical training is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Industry-specific experience in pipeline or utility is preferred; will accept land development.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under the guidance of project managers, engineers, and lead designers.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents such as drawings, sketches, and 3D representations to exercise judgment within the defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Understanding of National CAD Standards is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ability to retain information, details, and procedures for use on future projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
  • Punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, and thorough.
  • Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues.
  • Development of the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
