Position Title: Appraisal Specialist I

Location/Branch: Corporate

Reports to: Director of Valuation Management

Department: Appraisal

Office presence: Remote

FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Appraisal Specialist I will assist in managing the operational flow of appraisal orders through the management system(s) in compliance with applicable policies and guidelines, investor requirements, and Federal and State regulations.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Appraisal Administration

  • Manage and prioritize caseload of appraisal orders while maintaining workflow efficiency through the management system(s).
  • Decision approved appraisers for appraisal panel through vetting/recruiting new appraisers; maintain approved appraiser panel and review appraiser score cards while building and managing solid vendor relationships.
  • Manage the life cycle of the assignment including follow up with vendors and providing
  • exceptional service to staff.
  • Order appraisals by identifying and engaging a qualified appraiser within established
  • time frames.
  • Create and maintain reports to track appraisal assignments from order date through final
  • completion.
  • Act as a liaison between staff and appraisers by aiding staff in tasks associated with the
  • assignment process including status updates and reconsideration of value requests.
  • Continue to learn about the real estate appraisal industry and stay up to date on industry
  • trends and compliance.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what needs to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expectations, deadlines and priorities. Specific instructions are given for new or difficult assignments. Team member carries out recurring tasks through own initiative. Supervisor confirms work is accurate and in compliance with instructions and established procedures. The team member is directed in most aspects of the work, but gains exposure to some mildly complex tasks within the job function.

Supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, and assists the team member with unusual situations. The team member plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies and/or accepted practices. The team member contributes to moderately complex aspects of work. The team member's work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Supervisor sets overall objectives and resources available for work. The supervisor and team member work together to develop deadlines, projects and work to be done. The team member plans and carries out the assignment, resolves most conflicts, coordinates work with others and interprets policy if necessary. The Team member keeps the supervisor informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications. The team member contributes to complex aspects of work. The team member's work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Team member generally proceeds independently in accordance with general plans, policies and purposes of the department and/or organization. Results of work are considered technically authoritative and are normally accepted without significant change. This is typically selected for management level positions.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Years of Related Experience: Minimum (1) years of valuation experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience with customer relations and possess strong phone skills and written communication with a positive personality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with solid computer skills.
  • Analytical thinker and consultative mind to support both team members and managers in all areas of the business.
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated with the capacity to meet and exceed assigned goals.
  • Willing to learn, industrious, determined, and assertive.
