Senior Procurement Buyer - Logistics & General Expenses


Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Buyer who will play a critical role in executing procurement strategies and ensuring the integrity of business processes for the acquisition of goods and services across various departments. This position focuses on sourcing for HR, Finance, Registrar, Curatorial, Retail, and the President s Office, and involves managing projects related to Storage, Services and Shipment, Professional Services, Logistics, Office Supplies, Marketing, and General Expenses.


General Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Drive procurement best practices to maximize ROI on engaged spend.
  • Collaborate with requesting departments to understand requirements and provide early input into the sourcing process.
  • Independently manage large RFP projects, from supplier pre-qualification to final contracting and supplier onboarding.
  • Maintain a good understanding of industries/markets relevant to the role and the local supply base.
  • Process requisitions and change orders promptly and release POs in a timely fashion.
  • Validate fair values of incumbent sources through benchmark studies and recommend alternate sources as appropriate.
  • Address and rectify supplier performance issues, ensuring timely delivery and expedited services where necessary.
  • Participate in meetings with end-users to understand urgencies and align solution plans with project priorities.
  • Formulate strategy in area of spend responsibility and drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Maximize diversity spend by overcoming barriers that inhibit diverse suppliers from competing.
  • Generate ad hoc work reports and provide periodic updates for management on activities and savings.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating policies and procedures throughout the source-to-pay process and provide guidance to requesters as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, market research, supplier evaluation, stakeholder and project management, negotiation, RFx solicitation, and ensuring integrity of procurement processes and PO quality.
  • Experience sourcing Professional Services, Logistics, Office Supplies, Marketing, and General Expenses is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and drive results independently and as a team member.
  • Analytical skills with solid proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Contract and price negotiation, as well as supplier management experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage intense workloads and multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.


Knowledge and Education:

  • A recognized 4-year degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • Experience with ERP platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP) and sourcing management tools is a plus.


Desired Skills/Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and relevant categories.
  • Ability to manage large RFP projects independently.
  • Skilled in negotiating contracts and delivering savings based on total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Strong sourcing experience and the ability to source new commodities.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with a balance of excellence and pragmatism.
  • Strong project and client management skills.
  • Customer service-focused with persuasive and clear communication abilities.
  • Highly organized and conscientious with integrity and a prompt, responsive drive to action.


Salary Range: $120,000 - $125,000
