Assistant Teaching Professor - Counselor Education (12 month)

The Counseling and Human Services (CHS) programs and the School of Education at Syracuse University invite applications for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 19, 2024.

The School of Education is committed to inclusive and antiracist pedagogy and practice in the preparation of professionals at all levels, in the U.S., and international communities. The successful candidate will join a diverse faculty committed to infusing equity, inclusion, and social justice in its preparation of the next generation of professional counselors, supervisors, and educators. Qualifications

* A doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited university program is required at the time of appointment.

* Candidates must hold or be eligible for New York State Clinical Mental Health licensure and/or New York State School Counseling Certification.

Job Specific Qualifications

* We are especially interested in applicants who can teach graduate courses in several of the following content areas: human development, counseling children and adolescents, counselor in the schools, career development, group work, social justice and multicultural counseling, research methods, crisis counseling, practicum and internship.

* We seek candidates with a demonstrated ability or potential to provide administrative leadership for the CHS programs and has knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

* We are looking for a collaborative colleague with exceptional teaching, mentoring, communication, and organizational skills and evidence of centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in their teaching and service commitments.

Responsibilities

* The successful applicant will teach, supervise, and advise/mentor across CHS programs.

* They will be expected to take on unit leadership responsibilities and provide service to the Counseling and Human Services programs, the School of Education, the University, and the counseling profession.
